My model in this painting, is dressed in a museum quality, authentic old beautiful Blackfeet beaded buckskin dress from a private collection. She depicts a young Blackfeet girl holding an eagle feather fan immersed in the energy of this sacred communication. I photographed these images of rock art from the Whiskey Basin Wildlife Refuge near Dubois, Wyoming. There are various interpretations to the meaning of the images but Native American Elders all agree that the rock art is sacred and that there is a connection between the physical and spiritual realms. This young Native girl stands illuminated, with the energy and spirit of her ancestors.
