Audrey is one of my favorite Native American models living on the Flathead Reservation. In this painting she depicts a young Blackfeet – Crow girl carrying her cherished cradle board on her back. Most dolls and cradle boards were the product of elderly women who made them as gifts for their granddaughters. Sewn with painstaking attention to detail, dolls and their accouterments helped a girl learn her family's way of making household objets. In this painting Audrey is wearing a wonderful old museum quality Blackfeet beaded buckskin dress with the authentic buckskin beaded Crow child's cradle board tied to her back. Both are from a private collection.
